Volunteering — FSJ / BFD
Go to Germany for a year of volunteering.
The FSJ (voluntary social year) and the BFD (federal volunteer service) let you get involved in Germany, receive a stipend and often housing, all while improving your German. We support you from your first German class all the way to the visa.
Age
16 to 66 years old (FSJ or BFD depending on age)
Required German level
B2
Typical duration
6 to 18 months
Framework
Supervised volunteer year, with a stipend and often housing
Indicative benchmarks — your exact situation is confirmed during your support process. This is a support service, not a promise of a visa or a job: the final decision always belongs to the German authorities.
