What a warehouse logistics specialist does

They check goods on arrival, store them correctly, pick orders and organise dispatches, using handling equipment and stock management software.

Receive

Check the quantity and condition of goods against the documents, then organise unloading.

Store and pick

Put items away according to storage rules, count stock and pick customer orders.

Dispatch

Pack and label shipments, draw up a loading plan and plan delivery rounds.

The training

How the Ausbildung works

In Germany you learn by working: this is the “dual system”. You are an employee of a company and a student at a vocational school (Berufsschule) at the same time.

Exams and qualification

An intermediate exam (Zwischenprüfung) in the middle of the 2nd year, with a practical task and a written paper. The final exam includes practical work of up to 5 hours and three written papers. You obtain the Abschlusszeugnis of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK).

Gross monthly pay during the training. These amounts are averages: they vary by region, sector and collective agreement.

Requirements

What you need to apply

Education level

Baccalaureate level is required.

German level

The required level is B2. Good technical vocabulary for the trade is a real plus.

Physical fitness

The work is physically light to moderately heavy, on your feet and on the move, with bending or kneeling postures. Good eyesight, good hearing and a sound back are needed.

What German level is required?

Level B2 is required. You do not need perfect German, but you must be able to follow lessons and understand safety instructions.

How long does the training last?

36 months, i.e. 3 years.

Am I paid during the training?

Yes. You receive a monthly pay throughout the training, and it generally increases each year.

Where can I take the eligibility test?

Online on our website, or directly at our Douala office.

Where can I learn German?

What is the difference with the Fachlagerist?

The Fachlagerist is a 2-year training whose content matches the first two years of this training. After the Fachlagerist, it is possible to continue into the 3rd year.
