Protection and security specialist (Fachkraft für Schutz und Sicherheit)
You protect sites, property and people, prevent hazards and advise customers on security: a paid 3-year training in the private security sector.
What a protection and security specialist does
They plan and apply security measures, analyse risks, monitor equipment and rules, and step in calmly and lawfully when an incident occurs.
Monitor and protect
Carry out patrols, control access and monitor sites, with or without video surveillance.
Prevent risks
Assess hazards, check alarms, fire protection and locks, and act within the law.
Advise and plan
Present a security concept to a customer, plan teams and write reports.
This occupation is for you if…

- you follow rules and the law strictly

- you cannot provide a certificate of good conduct (criminal record)

In Germany you learn by working: this is the “dual system”. You are an employee of a company and a student at a vocational school (Berufsschule) at the same time.

Exams and qualification
The final exam is split into two parts (Abschlussprüfung). The first, at the end of the 2nd year, counts for 40 %: behaviour in situations and legal basics. The second, for 60 %, covers economics and society, a written security concept and a simulated client discussion. Qualification: IHK certificate.

Gross monthly pay during the training. These amounts are averages: they vary by region, sector and collective agreement.
